EXACTA Temp Xtra Temporary Crown and Bridge Material
Preparation Prior to preparing/extracting the tooth, an initial impression is required. The use of Exacta FRESH Preop Gel is advised for this. Upon completion of the preparation, the provisional crown can be fabricated. A laboratory made vacuum formed template can also be used to fabricate the temporary restoration In cases where there are thin walls or margins, trim more material out of the impression in these areas Prior to using, insert the 1:4 slide into the dispensing gun ensuring that the ridges on the slide are facing downward. Use only the mixing tips that are supplied with the material.
Application Prior to inserting the mixing tip, extrude a small amount of material to ensure that the materials are flowing uniformly. Leave the mixing tip on the cartridge after each use until it is used again. If the cartridge apertures are blocked, use a small probe to open. Do not force by using extreme pressure on the dispensing gun. Prior to using a new tip always extrude a small amount of material to ensure that materials are flowing uniformly. Setting ability is determined by equal amounts of material extruding simultaneously. Ensure that the impression or template is dry and fill the proper area with EXACTA Temp Xtra from the bottom to the top. Approximately 1:20 minutes for fast set and after mixing. EXACTA Temp Xtra exhibits a firm yet elastic consistency that can then be removed from the mouth The temporary restoration can only be removed during its elastic phase and within 2:00 minutes for fast set.
Finishing After the material has sufficiently hardened 5:00 minutes for FAST SET finishing can be completed. Oxygen prevents the surfaces of EXACTA Temp Xtra restorations from setting completely. The outer residue layer can be easily removed with alcohol or other type solvents It Is also very important to remove this layer of residue completely from the prep area prior to final impression taking. Have the patient first rinse with mouthwash and then clean and dry the area. If using the same impression for the final impression that was used for the temporary restoration, this must also be thoroughly cleaned with alcohol otherwise the impression material may not set properly.
Cementation EXACTA Temp Xtra restorations can be temporarily cemented with EXACTA Cement Xtra.
Repairs Should an EXACTA Temp Xtra temporary restoration fracture, the following methods are recommended: - If shortly alter being fabricated, bond the fractured areas with freshly mixed EXACTA Temp Xtra or EXACTA Flow.
- If a fracture occurs later, roughen the surface area surrounding the fracture to enhance mechanical retention. Applying a light cured bonding agent improves the bond strength. Once the fracture has been prepared, either repair it with freshly mixed EXACTA Temp Xtra outside of the patient's mouth or use EXACTA Flow in the mouth.
